A hydraulic slide system uses pressurized hydraulic fluid to move the slide room in and out. A hydraulic pump sends fluid through hoses to one or more cylinders, which provide the force needed to extend and retract the room. These systems are commonly used on larger or heavier slide rooms because they can move substantial weight smoothly.
WHAT IT IS
HOW IT WORKS
A hydraulic pump creates pressure that moves hydraulic fluid through hoses to one or more cylinders. As the cylinders extend or retract, they move the slide room in or out.
Hydraulic slide systems do not use the same motor synchronization process as a Schwintek In Wall system. Operate the slide according to the manufacturer’s instructions for the specific system installed in the RV.
WHAT TO WATCH FOR
Watch the slide as it moves in and out. The room should travel smoothly without jerking, binding, hesitation, or unusual noises.
Check the hydraulic pump, reservoir, hoses, fittings, and cylinders for signs of leaks, damaged hoses, loose connections, or wet areas. Also make sure the room fully extends and retracts and that the seals make consistent contact.
COMMON PROBLEMS
Common hydraulic slide issues can include fluid leaks, damaged or aging hoses, loose fittings, low hydraulic fluid, pump or motor problems, leaking cylinders, and slides that move slowly or fail to travel fully.
If the slide begins moving unusually slowly, stops before completing its travel, makes abnormal noises, or you see hydraulic fluid where it should not be, the system should be inspected before continued use.

Hydraulic systems can hide small leaks before they become obvious problems. Look closely around the pump, reservoir, hoses, fittings, and cylinders for any sign of moisture or hydraulic fluid.
If the slide starts moving slower than normal, hesitates, or sounds different, do not keep cycling it. Find the cause before the problem gets worse.
